Hearts and shields.
Welcome back to another chapter of the DodgeOnDungeon Devlog!
For this occasion, I have decided to add objects that appear randomly and can be taken to help us endure a little more among the chaos of the dungeon.
It has created a heart that obviously gives us an extra life in case we have lost it before (never more than the initial limit of lives).
I had to create a shield that looked good during the game to indicate that the player was invincible for a few seconds, so it's Gimp's turn again, with which I have drawn this animation.
I don't know the exact duration of the shield, because too short would be useless and too long would be OP...
I am also not clear about the probability of spawn of objects. It is currently 25% chance to appear every 5 seconds for the shield and 15% for extra life, but never both at once. If the heart appears, the shield does not appear and vice versa.
We will see if trying I just hit the key!
Leaving that aside and continuing with the shield, we just needed some scripts to be immortal while the shield is active, make the shield follow the player, and test it a bit. Voila, it works!
Actually, the gif looks a bit lack of color, the computer is giving me some problem while recording this but I didn't want to restart in the middle of the job. I'm sorry about that.
As an extra, before I forgot, I also decided to put a tail effect on the arrows that are shot, to give a little more visual effect and animation to the game.
And that's all, for now! I think I don't forget anything, it's time to continue working to bring the next chapter!
